From muse to artist
Everything gets so much better when you learn to like your body. After two kids, I have a couple of stretch marks and a belly, I have no doubts that I could eat kale and smash it out at the gym every day to get rid of the belly, but I don’t. For me, I’d rather eat the foods that bring me comfort and spend time doing things that don’t leave me in pain.

Memories of a 7-year-old getting to see Empire Strikes Back
I work with a lot of people that are significantly younger than I am. Many of them the aged between their early 20s to mid-30s. They are living in times when it’s fashionable to be nerdy and to have nerdy interests (ok maybe not fashionable but you certainly aren’t forced to hide away if you want to play Dungeons & Dragons for fear of getting beaten up).

A hard wake-up
I don’t normally sleep naked. At home, there is the constant risk of kids running into the room in the middle of the night or me having to get up to something and one of the nosey neighbors seeing me. But here I am in this hotel room, naked, lying on my side and my secret lover is lying beside me.

When prepping for our wedding, there was so much to organise; the venue, invitations, dresses, the church, and the list went on. It was a relatively small ceremony and reception, but we really wanted to have my niece and nephew involved as the flower girl and page boy.

I love getting back to nature! Those are six words I didn’t see myself saying a week ago. Now it’s not that I am against the great outdoors, I just had plenty of other things I’d rather do, especially if you can do them in an airconditioned hotel suite.

People still don't trust me with an axe. Top Story - September 2022.
I was at my friend’s place a few weeks back giving them a hand with a few things. They had a tree that needed to be cut down and I headed over to grab the axe. I’ve never seen them move so fast in my life, they got to the axe before me and said, “Ah, I think after what happened before, maybe I’ll do the chopping”.

The Secret Party
They knew this had to be quick, there was not much time, and they would be missed. Sonia was grateful that Peter was staying in the hotel where the birthday party was being held, that made getting alone time a little bit easier. He discretely whispered in her ear that she should meet him in his room, 1619. Sneaking away from the birthday was a challenge, first Peter excused himself to go to the bathroom. Sonia waited a few minutes and then she made it look like she was also going to the bathroom.

Have I become a hugger?
An embrace is an embrace. Arms wrapped around me, bringing my chest to another’s. Rarely getting hugs made me not know how to do them or react to them.

Harden the f&%k up
I have lived with depression for a large amount of my adult life. I didn’t necessarily know that I was depressed, I just assumed I was someone who cried a lot more than others, that I got a lot more emotional than others, and I just was lazier than others.

Hot, sweaty, smelly. Oil, grease, and muck. Swearing like a trooper because the bolt won’t budge. Where is that spanner? The 7/16th I need.

Mosques, medinas, carpets, and other adventures
I watched the movie Casablanca a few hundred times, which meant Morocco was on my bucket list of countries to travel to. I was chuffed when I finally got there. It’s a country of contradictions, for instance, you can sit in a café with free Wi-Fi and then a donkey will walk past on the street.

A hot breakfast
Linda picked up the menu from the table in part to try to give herself a distraction from her nervousness. Since she’d agreed to meet Simon when he was in town, she had felt conflicting emotions of elation and anxiety. It was her suggestion to have breakfast, thinking that there would be less chance of her sleeping with him, she wouldn’t be drinking and there was always the risk that someone she knew might see them together.
