Unofficial Challenge: Black History Celebration
Forward: February 28th, 10:53 PM, EST... The final hour of Black History Month, 2026. Hello fellow writers. I've had this challenge waiting in my drafts for most of the month. But I held off on publishing it, until now.

REEEEEEEEE!
I'm on a low road right now. There are a literal million things to do and not one of them worth my time. I would rather sit in place and burn but the orbit takes me on its inevitable route 'round the center; and I a center in my own right, around which others orbit, and so on and so forth, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

Cassie and Johnny
I’m the kind of dame you notice. I’m no femme fatale, but you can’t ignore me, at least not until I warn you about what’s coming, then everybody ignores me. Hell, they usually blame me afterwards and give Johnny all the credit for saving the day, but my Johnny couldn’t save a seat at the movies without my help. Sure, he’s brawny, but brainy? Not so much. Like that time I asked him to spot me five bucks, and he said he didn’t see it anywhere on me, and believe you me, he looked but good.

Craft Over Catharsis Challenge Winners
Craft Over Catharsis? What the hell does that even mean? The phrase came out of a curation meeting as a genuine question. We had been noticing that many challenge entries, across prompts, naturally gravitate toward trauma, grief, and personal reckoning. That makes sense. Writing is often cathartic. It's one of the ways we process what we've lived through.
