Say No to War

War has started,

news of people dying

brings goosebumps,

sends shivers down the spine.

Only the age, gender, position

country of birth and death will change.

Blood spilled

and death of dreams

will remain constant.

Come Memorial Day,

flags will appear in yards,

in my neighborhood.

People who did not suffer

will think it is a long weekend

to travel and flaunt on social media.

Somebody’s house will be dark,

somebody will be traumatized for life.

No point being called hero,

or given badges,

let's face the truth

most people go to war

not for patriotism, but livelihood,

they are cheated big time,

for cold death they get.

You know how war works.

Somebody starts it,

somebody else pays the price.

Say no to war.
