Strange Happenings in Illinois
Valentine's Day Massacre The address of the place of the 1929 Massacre is 2212 North Clark Street, Chicago Illinois. On the Northside of Chicago on February 14th, 1929 a red brick building and garage housing the S-M-C Cartage Company stood at this North Clark Street address. The garage was also being used as a warehouse for illegal, black market liquor for the Northside Bugs Moran gang. They were mobsters who were in direct competition with Al Capon’s gang when it came to selling illicit bootleg booze during the Prohibition Era. This well known hit was reenacted in part in the well-known comedy film "Some Like It Hot" with Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, and Marilyn Monroe.

The first inhabitants on this continent were the Aborigines. Their food was of high nutritional quality and whenever sufficient energy was obtained through hunting and gathering, the nutrient intake was balanced and adequate. Plenty enough to allow a rich and diverse culture of art, story-telling, dance and song to develop across the 600 tribes present at the time of the coming of the British. The British influence determined the main dishes such as Sunday roasts, grilled chops, stews, and other recipes made from meat and served with vegetables. The most frequent vegetable side dishes became mashed potatoes, beans, carrots, and peas.

It is a 2 story brick mansion covered by pink plaster. Today it is a lovely restaurant. On the first and second floor are the dining rooms. There is a basement bar/restaurant – descending down steep wooden steps one finds a nice piano bar with wooden tables surrounding it. On the right side of the room is a comfortable, relaxing sitting area with chairs and couches situated in front of a huge fireplace.

Crimson and Clover
Tommy James and the Shondells hold a special place in my heart because they have so many great songs which I just simply love to listen to again and again. They reached the peak of their success in the late 1960s. This American rock band had two very popular hit singles in the U.S. which are still played on the radio today. The hits were”Hanky Panky” and”Crimson and Clover”.
