Bora Bora—Does It Always Have to Be Expensive?

Admit it, you've always wanted to go to Bora Bora, swim in the crystal clear water, and, brag about having gone to your friends :) But when you search prices, the trip totals to over $10,000. WELL SCRATCH THAT IDEA!!! Today I am going to be teaching you how to travel to Bora Bora on a budget, while still living the luxury life.

Ok. So first thing to tackle is airfare. I suggest looking at 2 plane sites, Expedia and Orbits: These sights are backed up by so many people and I feel completely comfortable buying tickets from them. You can even get discounts if you order your hotel with the same website. A typical flight during off season (January to March or September to December) would be about 1200 dollars—or even less! Another thing you might be able to try is finding the best flash deals on such sights and go when they tell you to go, and then book your hotel and car to that accordingly.

So we're at just around 1200 dollars! That's the expensive part! Now to find a hotel: If you look up the Four Seasons resort Bora Bora, the fancy overwater bungalows can be up to 2000 dollars a night! YIKES! Don't give up just yet though: Just because you're on a budget doesn't mean you have to sacrifice too much quality! Just the over water part—most resorts offer bungalows on the beach facing the water, which might be the better option anyways, if you have a tiny fear of water or a child under 13 coming with you (they won't allow minors to stay on the overwater bungalows). Try checking out slightly smaller resorts, like Oa Oa lodge, where you can stay 5 night for less than 1000$ while still having a bungalow close to or on the water. Or try staying on an island surrounding Bora Bora! Like Tahaa. There is a Resort called LA PERLA TAHAA which is absolutely gorgeous, provides free transports to the main island, has great activities like pearl farm visiting or coral reefing, and beautiful beaches! It's a beautiful resort which you can stay in for 5 nights for about $990 on a escalating travel season (May), which means possibly cheaper in an off season!

If you're willing to spent a little more money, you can stay at a resort like the Sofitel Bora Bora for about 300$ a night but JUST the same quality as the Four Seasons. Or a really nice cheap resort with a private beach is Village Temanuata: Nice bungalows, free wifi, free breakfast, activities, and rides into town (plus airport transports)! And under 900$ for a 5 day stay!

As for cheap but quality resorts in Bora Bora, they are pretty easy to find, as long as you do some searching. But one other thing to consider is renting a vacation house for 5 days or so. This is so much cheaper than a resort yet still has some key qualities. They are often next to a beach, have continental breakfast, and usually a free ride into town and such.

As for transports from a airport, most resorts offer it for free, but if yours doesn't its usually no more than 100$. Easy peasy money :).

You can also rent a car from orbits for about $400 a week, which is expensive but as mentioned most resorts offer free rides into town.

Bora Bora is breathtaking, from remarrying your spouse to showing your kids a stingy for the first time it is a magical place, and I hope that my article has helped you to experience this without selling an arm and a leg.
