The Quiet Goodbye

I traced your name in morning mist,

But sunlight stole it with a twist.

You were a song I couldn’t keep,

Now silence rocks me into sleep.

We danced in dreams we couldn’t build,

With promises the stars had stilled.

Your voice once warmed my quiet fears,

Now echoes drown in unshed tears.

I gave you skies, you brought me rain,

Each kiss a rose that bloomed in pain.

Our laughter cracked with time's cruel thread,

And love grew ghosts we left unsaid.

No blame, no fire, just fading light—

We lost our way between the night.

I’ll walk a road where shadows pass,

And heal beneath the hourglass.

Don’t search for me in what we knew,

I'm learning how to breathe anew.

We part not as the worst of foes,

But as a tale that softly closed.

This is beautifully heart-wrenching—like a quiet goodbye wrapped in poetry. The imagery is tender and vivid, and the emotion feels honest without bitterness. Truly touching.
