Social Media is not "Dear Diary"
Wives should be careful of sharing their marriage woes online.
This poem was inspired by the number of women who become angry at their husbands and tell all of their business on Facebook. They share how their husbands mistreat them and say they are putting them out, only to later share how wonderful their spouse is. The cycle repeats as they complain, say divorce is coming, then reconcile over and over. People have a right to do whatever they choose. Younger women have told me this. Still, I share this musing of an older boomer.
Forget, forgotten, forgot
“Dear diary” Facebook is not
Your posts have hundreds of prying eyes
That watch your moves as if they are spies
They don't click like and never comment
But watch as your relationship you lament
And your secrets are often revealed
That probably should remain concealed
Wives share truths online about spouses
Cheating, addiction, and call them louses
Swearing their marriages, they will end
On changing their minds you can depend
Days or weeks later their husband's praise they sing
Posting how wonderful he is- ring-a ding-ding
Later the posts revert back again
To the wives who spill tea and complain
They tell their Facebook friends once more
They are going to show their husband to the door
Only to later post giving their spouse praise
As many eyebrows on social media raise
Love him, and keep him or leave him alone
It's nobody's business but your own
Making idol threats and not following through
Should only be between the man you married and you
Don't set yourself up to be the joke of the day
With people waiting to read what next you will say
